It was back in 1978 when San Fransisco artist, Gilbert Baker created that flag that see all over the world now.
The iconic rainbow flag created by Baker was handmade by dying and stitching eight pieces of fabric together.
In an interview with the Museum of Modern Art in 2015, Baker stated,
“[The LGBTQ community] needed something beautiful, something from us,” the late artist said in a 2015 interview with the Museum of Modern Art. “The rainbow is so perfect because it really fits our diversity in terms of race, gender, ages, all of those things. Plus, it’s a natural flag — it’s from the sky!”
Nearly 40 years later, the glad represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals across the globe.
We’ve seen it in all forms whether it be a t-shirt, a scarf, or in the jewelry we wear.
Perhaps our favorite form of the rainbow flag is the way beauty lovers all over the world have incorporated the colors into their makeup.
Before we close out the month of June, we’ve gathered some of our favorite beauty looks that will inspire your next look when celebrating Pride Month.
